Interracial Covenant Partnerships

What They Are, How You Can Start One

A Covenant Partnership is an intentional agreement to enter frequent Christian fellowship. Interracial Partnerships pair congregations whose ethnic identities are different--again intentionally. Participating congregations sing together, eat together, bowl and skate together, and even worship together--more often than just on holidays. The requirements are simple: be a Christian church, be willing to partner with other denominations and ethnic backgrounds, and look for ways to enjoy fellowship.

Obviously, you wouldn't be looking at this page and reading these lines if you knew exactly how to "do" Interracial Covenant Partnerships. So here is a little help concerning the "mechanics" of the Partnership.

A Partnership formed under the umbrella of the Akron Area Association of Churches has the benefit of our experience in assisting others with their own rough spots. In addition, we will help you to find a suitable (i.e., compatible) partner; not all congregations "fit" perfectly with every other church's people, a fact of human life. Finally, AAAC from time to time holds Partnership get-togethers for brainstorming, accountability, and larger-group fellowship. You come with questions? You leave feeling refreshed and invigorated, with answers from others who have "been there."

We continually search for compatible, willing Partners to pair with others. If you are searching, too, let us help. We may not be able to resolve your situation in the space of a week, but we will pull our information resources together on your behalf. Together, we will find a way to move your congregation forward within your plans.

Call Chloe Ann Kriska at the AAAC offices to begin the process or to ask about the program, (330) 535-3112. Our e-mail is aaac1@juno.com .
